Healthy resolution for 2009: Chew your food thoroughly.

You aren’t just what you eat you are also what you digest. If you don’t digest your food properly your body won’t be getting the nutrients it needs to keep you healthy, slim and happy. Many digestive problems such as bloating, gas, and stomach discomfort can be alleviated by taking the time to carefully chew food, so this year make a promise to yourself to enjoy and savour your food rather than gulping it down.

Healthy resolution for 2009: Eat at least five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Study after study has shown that people who eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day live healthier and longer lives so make a commitment this year to eat more fruit and have at least two servings for vegetables for lunch or dinner.

Healthy resolution for 2009: Do what you can now to prevent osteoporosis.

Exercise regularly and eat more calcium-rich foods such as canned salmon or sardines with bones, and dark leafy green vegetables such as collard greens, mustard greens, and kale. Avoid foods that deplete calcium, such as soft fizzy drinks and high protein diets.
